The DA-BAR reaffirmed its commitment to food security and sustainable agricultural practices through its active participation in the World Food Day 2025 celebration on October 16.

Held at the DPWH-MIMAROPA Gymnasium in Quezon City, the event was a concerted effort with the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (UN-FAO), the Department of Agriculture (DA), and its various attached agencies, bureaus, and corporations. Leading DA-BAR's delegation was Patrick L. Cabrera, OIC-Assistant Director.

This year's observance, guided by the theme “Hand in Hand for Better Food and a Better Future,” emphasized the necessity of global collective action across governments, organizations, sectors, and communities to effectively transform global agrifood systems and ensure a peaceful, sustainable, prosperous, and food-secure future.

The program featured messages from President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. and Agriculture Secretary Francisco P. Tiu Laurel Jr., underscoring the government’s priority on agriculture and food security. Senator Francisco “Kiko” Pangilinan, chair of the Senate Committee on Agriculture, Food, and Agrarian Reform, delivered the keynote. The celebration also awarded the winners of the On-the-Spot Poster Making Contest, recognizing young talents who creatively interpreted the importance of food security.

The DA-BAR remains dedicated to generating and promoting research for development initiatives that are crucial to achieving the nation’s goal of a stable and resilient food supply for all Filipinos.
