Dr. James Quilty, chief scientist of/at Australian Centre for International Agricultural Research (ACIAR) visited the DA-Bureau of Agricultural Research (BAR) for possible research for development and extension collaboration on soil health programs on 18 October 2023 in Quezon City.

 During the said visit, DA-BAR director Junel B. Soriano and assistant director Joell H. Lales briefly introduced and discussed the bureau’s research for development efforts particularly on soil health management. Quilty, in response, shared ACIAR's initiatives on the matter, specifically related projects implemented in Agusan del Sur.

 Present also during the meeting are Atty JD Quñonez, Dr. Johnvie Goloran, and Dr Adeflor Garcia. The discussion dealt on possible scholarship grants or support for short-term trainings for capacity building, co-funding projects, and adoption of the bureau’s Sustainable Community-based Action R4DE for Livelihood Enhancement, Upliftment, and Prosperity (SCALE UP) Program in Agusan del Sur.
