2023 World Food Day Program

The Bureau of Agricultural Research joined the DA, other attached agencies and staff bureaus, and the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (UN-FAO) in the celebration of the 2023 World Food Day (WFD) on 16 October 2023, at the Liwasang Aurora stage, Quezon City Memorial Circle, Diliman, Quezon City.

UN-FAO officials underscored the vital essence of water in food sufficiency especially amid the effects of climate change and pollution to countries like the Philippines, which depend on water-intensive crops such as rice. Meanwhile, President and DA secretary Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. and key DA officials highlighted the administration's efforts as well as the significance of the celebration toward the envisioned "Masaganang Agrikultura, Maunlad na Ekonomiya".

DA officials and staff signified their commitment in protecting and conserving the world’s water resources through the ceremonial candle lighting and declaration of the 2023 WFD pledge.

Bannering the theme–Water is life, water is food. Leave No One Behind, this year’s WFD celebration highlights the vital role of water in food production as well as in daily activities. Held annually, WFD aims to promote worldwide awareness of hunger and encourage everyone to take action and participate in initiatives to boost access to nourishing food, practice sustainable agriculture, and minimize food waste.
