DA-Bureau Agricultural Research director Junel B. Soriano and staff visited the two-hectare adlay seed production area in Northern Mindanao Agricultural Crops and Livestock Complex, Dalwangan, Malaybay, Bukidnon on 11 October 2023.Adlay varieties in the area include Ginampay, Gulian, Kiboa, Tapol (glutinous), and dwarf. Adlay seeds and grits produced by the station are promoted and distributed to interested adlay farmers in the region.
In order to improve the region’s adlay varieties, Soriano suggested acquiring improved adlay lines from Philippine Rice Research Institute for on-farm trials.
Joining the group during the visit were Department of Agriculture RFO X Research Division chief Lorena Duna and adlay project in-charge Nilo Panugaling.
