To strengthen and harmonize the agriculture and fisheries  research and extension efforts, the DA convened officials, researchers, extension workers,  and concerned staff from its  staff bureaus and attached agencies, national banner programs, and regional offices for the first ever National Research and Extension for Development Network Meeting on 23-24 August 2023 at the ATI-RDEC Hall, Diliman, Quezon City. 

Led by the  Bureau of Agricultural Research (BAR) and Agricultural Training Institute (ATI),the meeting highlighted strategies and mechanisms in executing the Agriculture and Fisheries Resources Research and Extension for Development Network (AFRREDN) guidelines as well as relevant issues and concerns pertaining to research, extension, and operations.

DA senior undersecretary Domingo F. Panganiban, represented by assistant secretary Rex C. Estoperez, undersecretary for Policy Planning and Regulation Mercedita A. Sombilla, DA-BAR director Junel B. Soriano, and  ATI director Remelyn R. Recoter led the opening program.
