National Agrobiodiversity Forum and Project Culmination of ABD Project

The  Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) through its Project Management and Coordination Unit and the DA-Bureau of Agricultural Research (BAR) organized a National Agrobiodiversity Forum and Culmination of the project titled, Dynamic Conservation and Sustainable Use of Agrobiodiversity in Traditional Agroecosystems of the Philippines or also known as the Agrobiodiversity (ABD) Project on 28 October 2022 at Verjandel Hotel in Diliman, Quezon City. 

As the ABD Project completion concludes in December 2022, the forum aims to encourage representatives from municipalities and provinces to commit to supporting the sustainability plan in order to sustain the positive contributions, gains, and progress of the project to the communities.

Representatives from the  relevant attached agencies and bureaus of DA, Department of Environmental and Natural Resources and its concerned attached bureaus and its regional office in Eastern Visayas, University of the Philippines Los Baños, National Commission for Culture and the Arts, National Commission on Indigenous Peoples, pilot local government units of Ifugao and South Cotabato, Department of Education-Indigenous People Education of Ifugao,  and civil society organizations gathered for the presentation of the significant milestones of the project.

Through the funding assistance of Global Environment Facility, the ABD Project aimed to enhance, expand, and sustain the dynamic conservation practices to conserve agro-biodiversity in traditional ecosystems of the Philippines.
