To introduce modern farming technology toward promoting urban and peri-urban agriculture, the Department of Agriculture and different partner agencies launched the Indoor Hydroponic System (IHS) at the Planter’s Product Inc., Makati City on 24 June 2022.
The indoor hydroponic system aims to increase the production yield of lettuce, kale, tomato, and basil from hydroponics farms using different light systems while assessing their microbial analysis.
Agriculture Secretary William Dar led the launching ceremony. Joining him were DA-assistant secretary for Strategic Communications and Department spokesperson Noel Reyes, Planter’s Product Inc. president and CEO Matt Moderazo, Food Security ambassador Alexandra Faith Garcia, Philippine Agriculture and Resources Research Foundation Inc. president Dr. Candia Adalla, Urban Greens founder and CEO Ralph Becker, National Urban and Peri-Urban Agriculture Program director Gerald Glenn Panganiban, and DA-Bureau of Agricultural Research assistant director-designate for Research Support Services Dr. Anthony B. Obligado.
