YL: SCALE UP Program Launching in Lipa, Batangas

Geared toward boosting farmers' productivity and profitability, DA-CALABARZON and DA-Bureau of Agricultural Research (BAR) officiated the ceremonial launching, and the signing of Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) for the  Yamang Lupa: Sustainable Community-Based Action R4DE for Livelihood Enhancement, Upliftment, and Prosperity (YL: SCALE UP) Program in Lipa, Batangas on 6 June 2022. 

In line with the DA's twin goals of Masaganang Ani at Mataas na Kita, the YL: SCALE UP program seeks to establish innovative and sustainable agriculture by covering thousands of  hectares of rainfed areas in different pilot regions of the country by the end of 2024. Through the program, adapted science-led soil revival strategies and management practices will be harnessed to increase the farmers’ productivity and strengthen their coping mechanisms amidst climate anomalies. 

Gracing the event were DA-BAR assistant director for Programs Joell H. Lales, YL:SCALE UP national program director Dr. Virgilio Julius P. Manzano Jr., and DA-CALABARZON key officials led by assistant secretary for Operations and research executive director Engr. Arnel V. De Mesa (joined virtually), and YL: SCALE UP project leader Dr. Dario M. Huelgas.
