Testimonies from Zamboanga del Sur

Vicente Casas, Sr., a farmer from Zamboanga del Sur, shared the results of his experience with planting rubber, corn, pineapple, banana, and fruit trees under the Community-based Participatory Action Research (CPAR)– highlighting its promising potential in terms of improved productivity, increased profitability, and enhanced capability– which all result to an increase in income.

As one of the 200 farmer adoptors for the project “CPAR on Promoting Upland Resource Management and Increasing Farmers’ Income in Rubber-Based Farming System at Mahayag, Zamboanga del Sur,” Casas learned more about the integrated rubber-based farming system (RBFS) project that was an action research designed as an intervention over farmer’s practices of monocropping. Such approach resulted to more job opportunities for the farming households in the community.
