MOU Signing, Training Workshop on the Crafting of DA IP Policy and Technology Transfer Protocol

The Department of Agriculture (DA) and the Intellectual Property Office (IPO) of the Philippines signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on 8 June 2022 at 4F Conference Room, DA-Bureau of Agricultural Research, Quezon City and via Cisco Webex. The said MOU shall provide a framework of cooperation and institutionalize coordination between DA and IPO Phl relative to the development of DA’s capacity on IP management, technology transfer, and commercialization. 

This was led by DA chief of staff and undersecretary for Research, Innovation, Training, and Extension Support Dr. Leocadio S. Sebastian, IPO Philippines director-general Atty. Rowel S. Barba, DA Legal Service OIC Director and DA IP TWG Chair Atty. Armando R. Crobalde, Jr., DA-BAR assistant director for Programs and DA IP TWG Co-Chair Joell H. Lales and other key officials from DAand IPO Philippines. 

Following this, a three-day training workshop was conducted to finalize DA’s IP Policy and Technology Transfer Protocol. The IP policy and Technology Transfer protocol aims to define the roles and responsibilities of DA and its attached agencies and bureaus in the ownership, protection and management, utilization, transfer and commercialization of IPs generated from DA-funded research for development programs and projects.
