2022 National Farmers’ and Fisherfolk’s Month Opening Ceremony

The Bureau of Agricultural Research (BAR) joins the Department of Agriculture (DA) in celebration of the National Famers’ and Fisherfolk’s Month with the theme, “Buwan ng Magsasaka at Mangingisda: Modernisasyon at Industriyalisasyon, Tungo sa Masaganang Ani at Mataas na Kita.”

Agriculture Secretary William D. Dar led the ceremonial ribbon-cutting of the photo exhibit and opening ceremony on 16 May 2022 at the DA Headquarters, Quezon City. DA-BAR assistant director for Programs Joell H. Lales and assistant director-designate for Research Support Services Dr. Anthony B. Obligado graced the event.

The month of May is proclaimed as Farmers’ and Fisherfolks’ Month by virtue of Presidential Proclamation No. 33 issued on May 21, 1989 to give recognition to the role and contributions of the farmers and fisherfolk in ensuring food security and sustainability.
