Workshop on rainfed agriculture and fisheries R4DE program in Ilocos

A workshop in mapping out a collaborative rainfed agriculture and fisheries research for development and extension (R4DE) program in Ilocos was held on 26-27 April 2022 at the Mariano Marcos State University (MMSU), Batac, Ilocos Norte. This was conducted by MMSU in partnership with the DA-Bureau of Agriculture Research (BAR), Provincial Government of Ilocos Norte and DA-Ilocos Norte.

About 100 representatives from various private and government offices in Ilocos participated in the two-day workshop where priority projects under the flagship programs were identified focusing on five program areas: location-specific technological innovations; bioenergy; natural resource management; province-led agriculture and fisheries extension, and international cooperation.

Officials of MMSU, DA-BAR, DA-Ilocos Region, and the Ilocos Norte Agriculture and Fisheries Extension System all gave their commitment of support to the programs and projects identified for the Ilocos.
