Review and Monitoring of Banana Stalk and Water Lily Projects

The Bureau of Agricultural Research (BAR) conducted the 4th quarter progress review of projects on banana stalk and water lily on 5-6 November 2018 at the Pampanga State Agricultural University (PSAU) in Magalang, Pampanga.

Among the partner-institutions involved in the project are: PSAU, University of the Philippines Los Baños (UPLB), University of Southern Mindanao (USM), Philippine Carabao Center (PCC), and Philippine Fiber Industry Development Authority (PhilFIDA). PSAU and USM are focused on goats in Luzon and Mindanao, respectively. UPLB and PCC are on dairy cattle and buffaloes, respectively, while PhilFIDA is focus on the use of banana stalk and water lily as source of fiber.

PSAU President Honorio M. Soriano, Jr. welcomed participants extending his commendation to the lead-project proponents for their respective accomplishments. He mentioned that the need to be judicious in the implementation of the project encouraging each one “to think of agriculture as an industry”.

The review was conducted to assess and evaluate the progress of the projects and to polish the planned activities prior to the project completion. ###
