DA-BAR R4D agenda, strategies highlighted in CVAARRD multi-stakeholders workshop

DA-Bureau of Agricultural Research (BAR) director Dr. Junel B. Soriano underscored the importance of research for development (R4D) in agricultural development and the key role that collaboration plays in pursuing its goals during the Multi-Stakeholders Consultation Workshop for the 2023-2028 Cagayan Valley Harmonized Research, Development and Extension Agenda in Agriculture, Aquatic, and Natural Resources (AANR) held on 04 July 2023.

“At the Bureau of Agricultural Research, we have always recognized the crucial role of research and development in driving agricultural progress. We firmly believe that scientific advancements, coupled with stakeholder engagement, are the keys to transforming our agricultural practices, enhancing productivity, and ensuring the well-being of our farming communities”, said Dr. Soriano during his presentation.

Taking off from its impact pathway, Dr. Soriano shared with the group how the bureau’s strategies and programs align with the 4 major strategic agenda of the Department’s current administration. From this, he transitioned to the ongoing efforts of the bureau relating to the National Agriculture and Fisheries Research for Development Agenda (NAREA) 2023-2028–a document that encapsulates the bureau’s R4D investments and strategies that are targeted to generate the most utility and impact to the farmers and industry. Highlighted as well in his presentation are the salient technologies that the bureau has invested in for specific commodities.

Convened by the Cagayan Valley Agriculture, Aquatic and Natural Resources Research and Development (CVAARRD) consortium, the consultation-workshop was attended by partner institutions and key stakeholders. (### Geline Nicole A. Morillo)
