To further assess and evaluate the crafted research for development (R4D) programs and activities and its contribution toward the agriculture and fisheries sector, the DA-Bureau of Agricultural Research (BAR) conducted its 2022 Year-End Assessment and Culminating Activity on 20 December.
The said assessment was divided into two parts: a) Presentation of R4D Programs and b) Presentation of Knowledge Management and Unit Activities. Each division and unit presenters discussed their respective office’s salient accomplishments, as well as the plans and activities for 2023.
DA-BAR OIC-director Joell H. Lales is hopeful that the technologies developed and improved by the bureau’s partner-implementers will reach the grassroots level. Moreover, the bureau sets forth in capacitating and strengthening the skills and technical knowledge of its staff that will be of great help to the community.
Following the program, the activity also allowed the ManCom members to raise suggestions and ideas in order to better deliver the functions of the bureau based on its mandate, vision, and mission.
Meanwhile, the bureau also held its year-end party to mark its 2022 milestones with DA-BAR employees.
“We, at BAR, know no boundaries. We welcome each and every one to have teamwork and build camaraderie among ourselves,” said director Lales as he highlighted the importance of the activity.
The event also served as a venue to acknowledge DA-BAR OIC-assistant director Dr. Anthony B. Obligado and bureau staff Christopher Lazaro with a Loyalty Award. In addition, the program was composed of fun activities and division and unit presentations in a friendly competition that showcased the different Philippine festivals such as Dinagyang Festival, Giant Lantern Festival, Panagbenga Festival, among others.
The Knowledge Management and Information Systems Division and Research Coordination Division tied for first place with their creative performances of Panagbenga Festival and Dinagyang Festival, respectively.
To end, assistant director Dr. Obligado extended his gratitude and holiday greetings to all key officials and staff. He commended their efforts and hard work throughout the year and hoped for the best in the next years to come. (### Diwa J. Velasquez)
