Radio program features DA-BAR programs and initiatives

DA-BAR, represented by Research Program Development Division head Raymond Patrick L. Cabrera, presented the bureau’s programs during a broadcast interview in the UP UP Program on 5 August 2022 and aired via Facebook Page.

Hosted by BGEN Gerardo M. Zamudio PAF (Ret.), the interview was anchored on “Usapang pangkaunlaran, alamin ang mga programa ng Bureau of Agricultural Research para sa pagpapaunlad ng sector sa bansa.”

Cabrera provided an overview of the bureau’s core mandate and vision.

“In response to food crisis and rising prices of farm inputs, we have different R4D (research for development) areas and interventions on balanced fertilization, and balanced pesticide use, integrated and diversified farming system, as well as different crops and commodities. We have a model on integrated farming systems across the country,” he said.

In terms of NGOs, academe, or loose, broad coalitions looking for partners, Cabrera encouraged viewers to directly visit the DA-Regional Field Offices for the research development efforts. “Iyong research division doon ay pinag partner natin sila to address the technology gap. This is a collaborative effort and partnership with regard to development of technologies,” he shared.

For R4D areas and supported technologies, the bureau covers livestock, fisheries, climate change, biotechnology, climate change resiliency, drought tolerant, precision support and digital approach for accurate decision making.

Broadcasted from 5:00 to 6:00 in the afternoon in three radio stations, 99.9 DWGV-FM (Lipa City), 792 kHz GV-AM (Pampanga), and 2234 DWDD Armed Forces Units throughout the country, the said program aims to support government push for inclusive development as well as efforts to achieve long-lasting peace within the country.
