Ribbon-cutting Ceremony and Opening of Exhibits

The 2017 Agrilink Foodlink Aqualink officially started on 5 October 2017 at the World Trade Center, Pasay, Manila with the ribbon-cutting ceremony led by Mr. Larry Miculob, chairperson of the Davao City Durian Council and chair of the 2017 Agrilink; and Mr. Shingil Kim, president of Asia Tech. Co. Ltd. Representing Agriculture Secretary Manny Piñol was Assistant Secretary for Agribusiness and Marketing Engr. Leandro H. Gazmin.

This year’s Agrilink focused on the theme, “Improved Varieties and Postharvest Facilities: Essential to Profitability,” highlighting improved crop varieties alongside postharvest facilities that will contribute to increasing the productivity and incomes of the farmers and fishers.

The Bureau of Agricultural Research (BAR) as one of Agrilink’s major co-sponsors and participating exhibitors showcased research-generated technologies in its booth. Among the technologies highlighted were adlay, soybean, native animals, mushroom, Queen pineapple, apiculture, heirloom rice, organic fertilizer, Gourmix, Edible Landscaping, rimas, tilapia ice cream, seaweeds, and kapis products. These technologies were funded and supported by BAR under its two banner programs, the Community-based Participatory Action Research (CPAR) and the National Technology Commercialization Program (NTCP). ###
