BAR Seminar on Goat Production.

21 September 2017
Bureau of Agricultural Research

A package of technology on goat breeder and fattener production highlighted the monthly in-house seminar series of the Bureau of Agricultural Research (BAR) held on 21 September 2017 at BAR.

Dr. Jovita M. Datuin, chief of the Research Division, Department of Agriculture-Regional Field Office I (DA-RFO I); and Ms. Liza Ronquillo, science research specialist, also from DA-RFO I, served as the resource speakers. Their presentations included topics on new goat-based production practices on proper feeding, housing, breeding and health management, including the market potential and its economic importance.

Dr. Datuin and her team also introduced Jovimin product, a feed supplement in a form of a mineral ball infused with natural ingredients from indigenous sources. Jovimin balls were made safe for consumption of goats at all growth stages, including pregnant does.

The group of Dr. Datuin brought samples of Jovimin balls to show the seminar-attendees. The product is not yet commercially available and is still in the process of refinement.

For September, BAR features goat production technologies in its seminar series. An introduction of Jovimin, a novelty innovation of micro-vitamins and mineral balls as goat food nutrient supplementary, was part of the presentation.
