CPAR Program Orientation in Samar.

The Bureau of Agricultural Research (BAR) completed the last leg of the three-part series of the Community-based Participatory Action Research (CPAR) Orientation in Catbalogan, Samar on 25 July 2017. The first series were conducted in the provinces of North Cotabato and Kalinga.

Samar was one of the three identified provinces that has not yet been reached by the CPAR program.

The BAR team, led by the Program Development Division Chief Joell Lales introduced the CPAR program to 34 participants who attended the orientation representing the 26 municipalities of the local government of Samar.

Topics presented during the orientation included the CPAR background and rationale; Participatory Rural Appraisal (PRA); guidelines in availing CPAR grants, preparing and packaging proposals for funding.

With assistance from the Department of Agriculture-Regional Field Office 8, through its Regional Technical Director for Research and Regulation, Dr. Elvira Torres and Research Manager Engr. Nardz Londina, the CPAR projects will focus on various champion commodities of each municipality such as ubi, ginger, rootcrops, and poultry and livestock (chicken, goat, duck). ###
